Duo is in Kingston’s uptown Stockade District, just a pitching wedge away from two of our long time favorites – Boitson’s Bistro and le Canard Enchaine. Duo Bistro joined these two standouts in the spring of 2012. Chef Juan Romero’s menu is delightfully original, combining local farm products with creative and well prepared recipes.
Ole Savannah is a nice addition to the Rondout dining landscape, courtesy of the same folks that brought you Mariner’s Harbor and Frank Guido’s Little Italy in uptown Kingston near UPAC. This restaurant is arguably the best of the group, and certainly the one with the nicest views. Our Wednesday night dining crew stopped in a few times for dinner…..
Frogmore Tavern has quickly become one of our favorite dining destinations when we are in Kingston. A talented kitchen and a well prepared American bistro style menu are the reasons to try it, and now you can add a new roof top bar to the attractions.
This new gem of a restaurant is going to be a little hard to find, but I promise you it’s worth the effort. The best way to experience the chef’s talents is to ask for Mike’s “Omakase”, or chef’s choice.
It has been a few years since I have written about this Hudson Valley jewel in Kingston’s Uptown Stockade District. That is an oversight on my part, since Boiton’s is a regular stop on our list of Hudson Valley favorites, especially if we are at UPAC for a show.
Elephant bills itself as a casual tapas ~ wine bar. Co-owners Maya Karrol and Rich Reeve opened the popular uptown Kingston eatery five year ago to rave reviews and quickly built a loyal following. An overnight sensation, right? Not exactly. There is much more to the story.

Their days of operation were problematic for my […]
Le Canard Enchaine 276 Fair Street Kingston, NY Phone: 845 339 2003 There was a time when our Wednesday night dinner crew, who drive from Ulster and Dutchess counties, would meet weekly in Kingston for dinner and cocktails. In the 1990’s one of our brethren had taken a job with the Shandaken police department. To […]
