Paradox Lodge, Lake Placid ~ Eat & Meet Grill, Saranac Lake ~ A Tavola, New Paltz ~ Shatzi’s Pub, Poughkeepsie & …….
The high season of summer is now behind us, and restaurateurs contemplating a move are now showing their hands. “For Sale” signs popped up on two of my favorite Adirondack eateries – Paradox Lodge in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake’s Eat & Meet Grill, which are now looking for new owners.
Moses “Red” LaFountaine has been scaling back his kitchen duties at Paradox. The restaurant is only open for lodge patrons and special events that are usually announced on their Facebook Page. The lodge has been put on the market.
Last week John and Colleen Vargo put Saranac Lake’s Eat & Meet Grill on the market. You can read about the offering here. Guideboat Realty has the listing.
Down in the Hudson Valley the rumor mill has it that 36 Main Street in New Paltz, home most recently to Huguenot Restaurant, may be home to a new eatery, run by the folks that brought you Schatzi’s Pub & Bier Garden in Poughkeepsie.
Speaking of the Huguenot, the owners of that recently shuttered establishment, Nathan and Bonnie Snow, who also own(ed) A Tavola down the street, have sold A Tavola to their long time employee and manager, Rosemay Smith and her partner, Nathan Ganio. They plan on keeping A Tavola operating “as is” (and if I were them, I would not change a single thing – except, perhaps, opening on Wednesdays!) The current chef there, Emma Chudkowski, is going to be heading up the kitchen, with Nathan and Bonnie consulting from their new home in Florida. Kyle Miller will continue to run the bar program.
